The Teaching & Learning Liaison role is key to creating a collaborative culture of teaching excellence across L&S. Liaisons are experienced faculty or instructional academic staff members designated by each academic unit in the College.
Responsibilities of the Teaching & Learning Liaison:
- Serve as the primary contact for teaching excellence efforts, sharing updates about College-wide initiatives, resources, and opportunities within their department.
- Represent their department by providing feedback and insights to help the College better support teaching excellence.
- Participate in occasional gatherings with other liaisons to exchange ideas, collaborate, and build a community focused on teaching excellence.
- Assist with unit-level teaching excellence action planning.
The role is adaptable to the unique structures and needs of each department. For some, it may align naturally with an existing position, such as the Director of Undergraduate Studies. For others, it may serve as a manageable service opportunity for an instructional academic staff member or early-career faculty member.
Departments may appoint one or more Teaching & Learning Liaisons based on their needs. In cases where multiple liaisons are appointed, it is essential that they work together as a team to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to teaching excellence.
