L&S hosts New and Returning TA Training before every fall semester. Spring training focuses on New TAs. Every L&S TA Training has a Canvas course and a training day with small group workshops lead by experienced L&S Teaching Mentors.
L&S Teaching Mentors facilitate the annual L&S Fall TA Training event and provide mentorship throughout the semester. Those selected to be Teaching Mentors have not only a proven track record of excellence as educators, but also a strong desire to share their experience and mentor other graduate student teachers.
TAs ask, “How do I get to know my students?” “What are ways to grade fairly and efficiently?” New TA Training offers practical tips for these and other teaching challenges. TAs also learn foundational teaching concepts about backward design, classroom community, and active learning.

L&S TA Training is put on by the TA Training & Support Team and the Instructional Design Collaborative in the L&S Teaching and Learning Administration, with support from campus partners.
